DAVIS, Calif. - A new athletic season is upon us as several UC Davis teams have begun preparation for their respective fall campaigns. Three Aggie squads have already started preseason practice, and two more will begin later this week. The flurry of activity provides a great opportunity to remind Aggie fans on how they can support and follow UC Davis Athletics.

The women's soccer, volleyball and football teams are already in practice mode. By the end of the week, the men's soccer team will be on the field as well as the first-year field hockey team.

This week also marks the first in a series of exhibition games as the women's soccer team will host San Francisco Thursday afternoon at 11:30 a.m. at the Aggie Soccer Stadium. The Aggies will also host Chico State Sunday at the same time. The women's soccer team takes part in the first Aggie regular season game when it hosts Sacramento State on Aug. 23.

The field hockey team, which enters its first year of intercollegiate competition since 1982, will take on Pacific in a scrimmage on Aug. 22 at Aggie Stadium. The team will play another scrimmage on the road prior to its regular season and home opener on Aug. 31 against Missouri State.

On the men's soccer side, the Aggies host Chico State in an exhibition on Aug. 23 before beginning the regular season on the road on Sept. 1. Later this month, the cross country and men's water polo teams begin their preseason practice.
