TICKETS AVAILABLE AT FREEBORN HALL TICKET OFFICE THROUGH MAY 19
DAVIS, Calif.-- The UC Davis Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will host the third annual Aggie Idol on Wednesday, May 20, at Freeborn Hall. The event, a variation of the hit television show American Idol, will serve as a fund-raiser for Invisible Children. Tickets can only be purchased through the Freeborn Hall Ticket Office. Tickets bought before May 19 are $6, and, pending availability, can then be purchased for $8 at the door. The event is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
Invisible Children is a nonprofit organization that looks to aid children in northern Uganda who would otherwise be kidnapped and forced to serve as child soldiers. This charity documents the lives of those living in the conflicted region in an effort to bring awareness to those people who have the means to help.
Unlike American Idol, Aggie Idol will feature other acts besides vocal performances, including instrumental performance, comedy, drama, dance or other talents. Last year's individual winner was former wrestler Matt Zonfrello while members of the track and field team repeated as group winners. Gymnast Kayla Koch won the inaugural Aggie Idol. The first two editions of Aggie Idol raised a combined $3,102 for two separate nonprofit organizations.
The benefit is coordinated by the SAAC officers: Grant Hirneise (baseball), Avreeta Singh (volleyball) and Kelsey Fischer (golf).
