DOVE CANYON, Calif. - Sophomore Chelsea Stelzmiller shot par-71 during Wednesday's final round of the Anteater Invitational, earning her second career win and helping the UC Davis women's golf team place second for its seventh top-seven finish of the season.

Stelzmiller shot a 1-under 212 total, winning by two strokes.

UC Davis, which was tied with Idaho heading into the final round, shot a 22-over 306 team score to edge No. 25 San Francisco for runner-up honors. Long Beach State blitzed the field with a 5-over 289 on Wednesday - the best round of the day by 13 strokes - to jump from fourth to first in the final standings at 39-over 891.

The Aggies concluded the three-day, 54-hole event at the 5,924-yard Dove Canyon Country Club at 51-over 903. USF was one shot behind UC Davis at 904 while Idaho was fourth at 907. Host UC Irvine took fifth at 919. Fourteen teams competed in the tournament, including all six Big West Conference teams.

Lauren Dobashi had a standout round of 73 - her best round of the week - and tied for 12th at 15-over 228 while Alice Kim also tied for 12th after shooting 83 in the last round. Senior Jessica Yam posted 79 for the third consecutive day and tied for 31st at 237 while sophomore Katie Sisler shot 83 and tied for 55th at 249.

Stelzmiller, from Union Mine High School in El Dorado, won the second tournament in her brief Aggie career after capturing medalist honors at the Price's Give 'Em Five Intercollegiate at New Mexico State last season. She also tied for first at last year's Big West Conference Championship before losing in a playoff but was named the league's Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year as well as to the All-Big West first team.

Stelzmiller finished among the top 10 for the fifth time in 2008-09 and in the top seven for the third time in the Aggies' last four team events. She posted seven top-10 performances last year.

Stelzmiller, who was tied for the lead after each of the first two rounds at this week's tournament, was the only golfer in the 74-player field to finish at par or better. The Anteaters' Jane Chin finished two shots back while Kay Hoey and Lee Lopez - both of Long Beach State - tied for third at 3-over.

The tournament brings to a close a busy stretch of golf for the Aggies who opened their spring break at the Oregon Duck Invitational before traveling to PGA West in Southern California to compete in the California Cup on Friday. UC Davis is off until competing in the Big West Conference Championships in three weeks.
