Weather Suspends Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational

March 2, 2009

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Rain and poor course conditions forced suspension of the first day of the Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational on Monday with tournament officials hoping to complete the opening round on Tuesday morning and declare a winner.

The UC Davis women's golf team is one of 16 squads competing in the event which was originally scheduled for 54 holes.

The tournament, being played at the par-72, 6,210-yard Almaden Country Club in San Jose, was able to start play on Monday morning before weather forced the event to be halted later in the day.

Teams are scheduled to return to the course on Tuesday, pending the weather, in an effort to finish the first round. If they are able to complete it, the round will be the only one of the tournament and winners will be declared based on the results.
