UC Davis Takes To Road For Pair Of Games

DAVIS, Calif. - The UC Davis men's basketball team heads back on the road for a pair of Big West Conference games against Long Beach State and UC Riverside. The LBSU contest tips Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. while the UCR game is scheduled to begin Saturday afternoon at 5:15 p.m. Both games can be heard on KFSG 1690-AM as well as www.ucdavisaggies.com.

UC Davis (9-12, 4-4 Big West) will be looking to continue its road success after picking up consecutive victories on its last road trip Jan. 15-17 at Cal State Fullerton and UC Irvine. The Aggies are 2-1 on the road in Big West play with their lone loss a three-point setback at Cal State Northridge on Jan. 5. Vince Oliver leads UC Davis with 14.8 ppg. while Joe Harden is averaging 14.1. The Aggies continue to lead the nation in free throw percentage and are also in the top-50 in field goal percentage and assists per game.

Long Beach State enters the game with an 11-9 overall record and leads the Big West at 6-2. Donovan Morris tops the 49ers with 16.1 points per game, and Stephan Gilling is averaging 10.6. LBSU is coming off a 67-63 win at UC Irvine on Saturday in a game Morris did not play. Prior to that, Long Beach State suffered consecutive home losses to UC Riverside and Cal State Fullerton.

UC Davis enters the week tied with UC Irvine for fifth-place in the Big West. In all, two games separate LBSU and the next five teams. Cal State Northridge is second (6-3) followed by Pacific (5-3) and Cal State Fullerton (5-4). UC Santa Barbara and Cal Poly are tied for eighth at 2-6.

UC Riverside is 11-9 overall and 3-5 in the Big West. The Highlanders host Pacific on Thursday prior to Saturday's game.
