DAVIS, Calif. - It will be an evening full of basketball at The Pavilion on Saturday when the UC Davis women's and men's basketball teams host a hoops doubleheader when they face UC Santa Barbara and Fresno State, respectively.
The Aggie women's game against the Gauchos, who lead the Big West Conference with an 11-1 record, begins at 4:45 p.m. The men will follow with a 7 p.m. contest against Fresno State which is being played as part of the ESPNU Bracketbuster event taking place across the country this weekend.
General admission ticket prices are $7 with one ticket good for both games. Children 12 and under will be admitted free on Saturday night as part of a special promotion.
The UC Davis women will be looking to avenge a 64-51 defeat earlier in the season to UCSB while trying to gain momentum for the Big West Tournament which takes place beginning Mar. 11 in Anaheim. Just three regular-season conference games remain before March Madness sets in. UC Davis and UCSB played to overtime in their most recent meeting on Hamilton Court last season.
The Aggie men, who rallied to beat Cal Poly 75-73 on Wednesday to secure their first-ever Big West Tournament berth, are participating in the ESPNU Bracketbusters for the second straight year. This year's seventh annual event features 102 teams from 17 conferences hoping to raise their national profile in hopes of earning a coveted berth to the NCAA Division I Tournament next month. As part of the arrangement, UC Davis will play at Western Athletic Conference member Fresno State next season.
