Game Notes

DAVIS, Calif. - The UC Davis men's basketball team is back in action Wednesday night when it hosts Sacramento State in a Causeway Cup battle at The Pavilion. The game tips at 7 p.m. and can be heard on KFSG 1690-AM as well as www.ucdavisaggies.com. It's the 105th meeting between the two schools. The Aggies enter the game winners of three of their past four games.

UC Davis (3-3) is coming off a 60-58 win at Ball State Saturday afternoon in Muncie, Ind. Dominic Calegari scored a game-high 24 points to lead the Aggies while Joe Harden added 17 points and nine rebounds. Mark Payne finished with 11 points to go along with seven assists. The Aggies overcame a seven-point deficit while holding the Cardinals to just six field goals in the second half. Calegari made a career-high five three-pointers before fouling out of the game. The Aggies held the Cardinals to just 37 percent from the field.

Through Sunday's games, Calegari and Payne are tied for fifth in the Big West Conference with 16.0 ppg. Harden is 7th at 15.7 ppg. Payne leads the Big West in assists (6.00) and steals (3.33) per game.

Sacramento State enters the game with a 3-4 record. The Hornets are coming off a 59-58 loss at home to UC Riverside on Nov. 28 and will be looking to snap a two-game losing streak. Sacramento State already has wins over Houston Baptist, Bethany and Oregon State. Junior guard Sultan Toles-Bey leads the team with 12.1 points per game while John Dickson is averaging 11.0 ppg.

Sacramento State leads the all-time series 62-42. The teams have met once each season since 2004-05 with the Hornets winning three times. The teams did not meet the previous six seasons. The last time they met at The Pavilion was March 1, 2008. UC Davis won that game, 83-77, behind a triple-double by Mark Payne. The Hornets won last year's contest, 82-70, in Sacramento.

Wednesday's game is the first of two this week for the Aggies at home. UC Davis hosts Seattle Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
