Today was our last full day in Europe and we spent it on the streets and the beach of Nice. Since we had no plans scheduled for the day, we were able to get some extra sleep, and I woke up around 11:30 a.m. (the most sleep I had received on the entire trip). The guys (except Vince, he was suffering from some very bad McDonalds) and Doug met down stairs for a walk down to the beach. After a quick stroll on the boardwalk, we decided to eat at what turned out to be a very questionable sandwich café where I had a tomato and cheese panini.
After lunch, we walked back to the beach for some swimming. The first thing we noticed was not the beautiful view of the Mediterranean, but instead the extremely sharp rocks under our feet. We had never experienced such a hard time getting to the water at a beach before, with each step the rocks cut into our feet. I was embarrassed when I saw several locals jogging on these rocks like it was nothing while I was just hoping not to fall over in pain. Once we reached the water though, it was all worth it because the temperature was perfect and the water felt amazing. After a good swim, we laid out on the rocks to catch some sun. Luckily, Dom brought some sunscreen so we didn't fry.
After the beach, I came back to the hotel for a shower and a nap before we headed out for our last dinner in Europe. Then, we walked to get some ice cream and finally went to bed to get some much needed sleep before our long day of travel back home.
