Monaco - Dominic Calegari led UC Davis with 27 points as UC Davis won the final game of its European Tour in a 113-109 victory over AS Monaco on Thursday. Calegari was one of four Aggies in double figures as the team finished with a 3-1 record in its four exhibition games. Vince Oliver added 22, and Joe Harden scored 18 before leaving the game with an injury. Kyle Brucculeri finished with 12.

UC Davis led 60-47 after two quarters before Monaco closed to within 93-85 heading into the fourth quarter. Monaco would eventually take the lead before the Aggies responded with another strong finish to win its second straight game after trailing in the final quarter.

"In all my years in basketball, I have never been a part of something like that," said UC Davis head coach Gary Stewart on the Monaco victory. "I am so proud of our guys. To hang in there against all odds speaks volumes about their mental make up. Two consecutive come-from-behind wins on the road is so significant for our program."

Trailing 103-102 approaching the three-minute mark of the fourth quarter, a fast-break dunk by Calegari put the Aggies in front for good. After a missed shot by Monaco, Adam Malik hauled in the rebound and started another fast break. Oliver finished the transition with a layup to make it 106-103.

The Aggies defensive stepped up again on Monaco's next possession, turning a missed shot into a Calegari bucket to put UC Davis on top 108-103 with 2:11 left.

The high-scoring game included Monaco making 40 trips to the foul line, but it was five free throws by the Aggies in the closing moments that clinched the victory.

Harden finished with a team-high nine rebounds. Payne hauled in seven rebounds to go along with seven assists and six steals. Harden went 3-for-3 from beyond the arc, and Brucculeri finished with two treys.

On Tuesday, the Aggies erased a 16-point fourth quarter deficit to defeat Monthey (Switzerland), 86-81.

UC Davis is currently staying in Nice but spent the day in Monaco. The team will stay in Nice until it returns to Davis on Saturday.
