2008 UC Davis Foreign Tour Archive

Tuesday, Sept. 2

Tuesday was spent in Montreux, Switzerland, which in my personal opinion is one of the most exclusive and beautiful places in the world. Our hotel was located 100 yards away from Lake Geneva, which wraps around the towering slopes of the Alps. Adam Malik and myself were the only players to receive a room with a view of the water and mountains so all of the players were in our room throughout the day.

We started the day off by visiting the Chateau de Chillon, which was located directly on the Lake a few miles away from our hotel. The castle dates back to the Savoy period during the 12 century. Our tour guide was great and he gave us an hour tour of the castle explaining the intriguing history of the building.

After our tour we all grabbed lunch and went back to the hotel for some much needed rest before our third game of the trip. The game was against a very talented Michelle squad, which plays in the top division here in Switzerland. After falling down by about 15 points we rallied back in the final five minutes of the game to defeat Michelle and bring our record to 2-1 on the trip. After such an exciting win, the team went out for dinner together and spent the rest of the night hanging out and bonding.

This was one of the better days of a trip that has been one of the best experiences of my life.
