BERKELEY, Calif. - Randi Schuler and Desiree Stone advanced to Saturday's gold doubles quarterfinal round at the Cal Nike Invitational in Berkeley. The duo won their first round match on Friday as play opened at the three-day tournament. It's the first of three tournaments this fall featuring the Aggies.

The pair was matched up against Sacramento State's Luba Schifris and Milaca Zivanovic in the opening round of 16 and posted an 8-4 victory to advance. They will next face Arizona State's Laila Abdala and Ali VanHorne Saturday morning in the quarterfinals. The semifinal round will start following the conclusion of the quarterfinals.

In singles, Schuler picked up a victory in the gold round of 32 when she defeated San Francisco's Cecilia Gratian, 6-3, 6-5. Schuler was defeated in the next round by Kristina Doerr of BYU, 6-1, 7-5. Abdala defeated Stone, 6-2, 6-4, in the first round before Long Beach State's Hannah Grady posted a 6-0, 6-1 win over Stone in consolation action.
