HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. -- Alice Kim shot a 3-over 75 on Wednesday during the final round of the Ron Moore Intercollegiate at the University of Denver, finishing 12th and helping the UC Davis women's golf team tie for seventh in the team standings.
The Aggies shot a final-round score of 17-over 305, ending the 54-hole event at 52 over. UC Davis tied for seventh with Baylor, two shots ahead of ninth-place Iowa State and three behind sixth-place Kentucky. Host Denver blistered the 6,605-yard Highlands Ranch Golf Club course, posting a dominating 27-shot win over second-place TCU with an 11-under total of 853. San Jose State was third at 24 over while UC Irvine was six shots behind the Anteaters in fourth.
Kim's 75 tied her with teammate Chelsea Stelzmiller who placed 23rd at 11 over, for the Aggies' low round of the day. Kim, who like Stelzmiller had a pair of birdies on Wednesday, completed her tournament at 5-over 221. Brittany Smith opened her final round with five straight pars on her way to a 77 and a tie for 52nd at 22 over while Kimberly Johnson ended her round with six consecutive pars for her 78, tying for 33rd at 17 shots over par. Katie Sisler shot 83 and tied for 62nd at 26 over.
First-day leader Stephanie Sherlock of Denver overtook second-round leader Jane Chin of UC Irvine by shooting a 68, posting a 54-hole score of 10-under 206 to earn medalist honors. Chin was second at 8-under 208 while Erica Moston of San Jose State was third at 210. Five players broke par for the three-day event.
UC Davis will return to Colorado to compete at the Heather Farr Memorial at the University of Colorado beginning on Monday.
