ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - UC Davis completed the fourth and final round of the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championships Friday at the University of New Mexico Championship Course. The Aggies posted a team total of 302 on the par-72, 6,424-yard layout. Chelsea Stelzmiller topped UC Davis with a one-over 73 while Alice Kim shot a 74. UC Davis played in its first NCAA Championships in its first official season as a Division I member and third season as a program.
Kim, who finished tied for 34th, ended up with a team-best 12-over 300 for the 72-hole championship with all four of her rounds ending up in the 70's. Stelzmiller settled into a solid round on Friday after starting five-over through her first four holes. From that point, she posted eight straight pars and finished with birdies in three of her final five holes and one-over for the day. Stelzmiller tied for 75th.
Sydney Roughton also had three birdies including two on par-fives. The first came on the 10th, her first hole of the round. She also birdied the par-3 2nd before closing the round with another birdie at the par-5 9th. Friday's four-over effort was Roughton's best of the championship.
Like Kim, Bryana Gregory also closed the 72-hole championship with all four rounds in the 70's with a 79 on Friday. Katie Sisler, who withdrew from the third round due to medial reasons, did not take part in the final round.
USC claimed the team championship with an 1168 and defeated UCLA by six strokes.
UC Davis was one of just 24 teams nationally to qualify for the championship field.
