NCAA Championships Live Scoring
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - UC Davis played nearly two rounds of golf on Thursday at the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championships. The Aggies started the day by completing the second round before playing the scheduled third round. At the end of the day, UC Davis is tied for 22nd place with a 54-hole total of 932. The Aggies are one of 24 teams taking part in the national championship. Eight teams did not complete round three due to darkness.
UC Davis was one of 12 teams - or half of the field - which did not complete round two on Tuesday due to high winds. Those teams returned to the course Thursday morning to finish the round. At that point, UC Davis was tied for 21st. Alice Kim turned in the low round for UC Davis with a 74. Bryana Gregory shot a 79 while Chelsea Stelzmiller and Sydney Roughton each had an 83. Kim was tied for 15th heading to the third round.
With the third round scheduled for a shotgun start in early afternoon, the 24-team contingent barely started before strong storms rolled through the area and suspended play for over an hour. The Aggies finished the third round Thursday evening with Gregory turning in a team-best 76 to move up in a tie for 82nd. Kim shot a 79 and is tied for 34th. Stelzmiller and Roughton fired 80's to help make up the team total of 315.
The Aggies are tied with South Carolina and are two strokes ahead of Arizona. USC and UCLA are tied for the lead at 16-over par but were among the eight teams unable to complete the round. There is a 12-stroke separation between the leaders and Denver, Arkansas and Arizona State. Those three schools, which also did not finish the round, are tied for 3rd at 28-over.
The third round will conclude beginning Friday morning at 7 a.m. MDT. The fourth and final round is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.
