NCAA Championships Live Scoring
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Chelsea Stelzmiller fired an even-par 72 to lead UC Davis in Tuesday's first round of the NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championships. The four-round event is being held at the 6,424-yard University of New Mexico Championship Course. UC Davis finished the day with a team score of 298 and is tied for 13th among 24 teams. Stelzmiller is tied for 15th, individually.
USC turned in the top score of the day with a team total of 284. UCLA and Auburn are five strokes back at 289 with Arizona State holding fourth-place at 290. UC Davis is tied with TCU, Texas, Arkansas and Purdue for 15th and is one of nine teams within two strokes of each other.
Stelzmiller's consistent round featured two birdies and 14 pars. She was two-over through nine holes before posting birdies at No. 1 and No. 4 to get back to even-par. From that point, the freshman closed her round with five straight pars. UC Davis began play on the 10th hole.
Alice Kim was also two-over heading to the front nine and birdied the par-3 2nd to get to one-over for the round. She closed with pars in the final seven holes and enters the second round tied for 23rd.
Katie Sisler and Sydney Roughton led the Aggies with three birdies each. Sisler finished two-over on the back nine before countering with two-over on the front. She birdied her final hole, the par-5 9th, to get to four-over for the round.
The championships continue Wednesday with the second round. UC Davis will tee off at 12:10 p.m. PDT. In all, the NCAA Championships feature four rounds and 72 holes.
