-- Paced by fourth-place finishes by freshmen Katie Sisler and Chelsea Stelzmiller, and a ninth-place by junior Bryana Gregory, the UC Davis women's golf team beat one ranked team and finished close behind another to take second at the Oregon Duck Invitational on Tuesday.

UC Davis finished the 54-hole tournament with a 40-over score of 904, just four shots behind 45th-ranked host Oregon and eight shots in front of 16th-ranked California. The Aggies had a team score of 297, tying Cal for the second-lowest total of the day. Washington was fourth at 923 while Idaho grabbed fifth in the 15-team tournament at 925.

UC Davis posted its second runner-up finish in three team events this spring and its fifth top-five performance in seven tournaments for 2007-08.

UC Davis was able to earn the impressive runner-up finish behind strong showings from Sisler, Stelzmiller and Gregory. Stelzmiller, from nearby Placerville, led the Aggies with a par 72 on Tuesday, lowering her score for the second straight round. She opened with a 77 on Monday before following with cards of 74 and 72 in the last two rounds. Stelzmiller's fourth-place finish was her fifth top-10 placing in six events.

Sisler had her best showing of her emerging Aggie career, firing a 73 after making the turn at 2 over, but rebounding with a pair of bogeys on the back nine to help get back to just 1 over at the end. Her fourth-place 223 included rounds of 72 and 78 on Monday.

Gregory tied for ninth after carding a 74 in the last round, her best score of the tournament. She had scorecards of 76 for each of the first two rounds, ending the event at 226 and tying with Julianna Uhrik of Oregon State for the final top-10 position. Sydney Roughton had a 78 on Tuesday, tying for 24th at 232. Kimberly Johnson finished 74th after an 89 on Tuesday.

Kendra Little of Oregon was the only player in the field to break par for the tournament, shooting 71 in the final round to post a 2-under 214 and win by four strokes over Amy Eneroth of Washington State.

The tournament was played at the 6,052-yard Eugene Country Club.

The Aggies will be the Regional Preview next week, hosted by Sacramento State.
