Aggies To Battle Hornets In Causeway Clash

DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis returns to action Wednesday night when it takes on Sacramento State at the Hornets Nest. Tip-off is set for 7:35 p.m., and the game can be heard on KFSG 1690-AM as well as www.ucdavisaggies.com. UC Davis enters the game 2-5 overall while Sacramento State is 0-5.

In its last outing, UC Davis was defeated at South Alabama, 72-60, Saturday night in the championship game of the USA Basketball Classic in Mobile, Ala. Joe Harden led the Aggies with 13 points, but the Jaguars used a 12-0 second half run to pull away from UC Davis. Harden was named to the All-Tournament Team after averaging 16.5 points in the Aggies' two games. Kyle Brucculeri added 11 points, and Vince Oliver scored 10. UC Davis trailed by just three points at the half.

Harden leads the Aggies with 15.9 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. He leads the Big West Conference in rebounding and is third in points per game. Oliver is second on the team with 10.7 ppg. and needs eight points to move into 11th-place on the school's all-time scoring list. A third Aggie, Dominic Calegari, is also averaging in double-figures with 10.1 ppg.

Sacramento State most recently lost to Idaho, 72-58, at home on Monday. Senior guard Loren Leath leads the team with 13.6 ppg while Justin Eller is averaging 10.4 ppg. The Hornets have been outscored by an average of 13.8 points per game. Each one of their losses has been by at least 10 points.

Sacramento State leads the all-time series, 61-44. The Aggies won last year's meeting, 83-77, at The Pavilion. UC Davis has won four of the last six games going back to the 1996-97 season.

Wednesday's game marks the end of a long road stretch for the Aggies, who will have played seven of their first eight games away from The Pavilion.
