ATLANTA, Ga. - The Collegiate Licensing Company (CLC), a division of IMG Worldwide, announced that it has reached an agreement with the University of California, Davis (UC Davis) to manage the University's trademark licensing program effective January 1, 2009.
"We feel this partnership with CLC is a great opportunity to take the UC Davis brand to new levels." said Scott Stevenson, Trademark and Licensing Manager at UC Davis. "CLC's representation of the majority of the collegiate market will provide us with access to key resources and relationships for exposing UC Davis to new students, fans, and supporters."
"UC Davis is a premier institution, and we are honored by the University's decision to partner with our company," said CLC's Brian White, Vice President, University Services. "We look forward to expanding on the University's previous efforts to increase demand for its brand and in establishing marketplace presence in the Davis area and beyond."
The agreement will give UC Davis a greater ability to protect and market its brand through a comprehensive trademark licensing program customized by CLC, which currently represents nearly 200 collegiate properties. Prior to joining CLC, the UC Davis licensing program, which began in 1981, was managed by another agency since 1996.
UC Davis joins the University of California, Berkeley as the second University of California System institution to partner with CLC. UC Davis becomes the eleventh (11) institution represented by CLC in the State of California.
UC Davis currently sponsors 26 varsity sports and is in its second year of NCAA Division I status.
