DAVIS, Calif. -The UC Davis men's basketball team will continue a familiar theme this week when it heads east for yet another road trip. This time, the Aggies journey to South Carolina to take on The Citadel on Monday night before facing Presbyterian on Wednesday. The Aggies have already traveled to Iowa, Arkansas and Alabama in separate trips this season. Monday's game at The Citadel begins at 4:05 p.m. PST, and Wednesday's game tips at 4 p.m. Both contests can be heard on KFSG 1690-AM as well as www.ucdavisaggies.com. UC Davis enters the trip 3-6 overall.
UC Davis was last in action Dec. 6 when it defeated Cal State Bakersfield, 87-86, at home. Joe Harden made two free throws with 6.1 seconds remaining to lift the Aggies, who overcame a four-point deficit with two minutes remaining. Harden led five Aggies in double-figures with 18 points, including a 10-for-11 effort from the line. Dominic Calegari scored 16 points, including 14 in the first half. Mark Payne finished with a season-high 15 points as well as a game-high nine assists. David Carter tossed in a season-high 13 while Vince Oliver also posted 13 points.
The Citadel enters the game 5-4 overall. The Bulldogs most recent game was a 56-54 loss on Dec. 6 at Elon. Prior to that, The Citadel had won four of its past five games. The Bulldogs have already started Southern Conference play and are 1-1. Sophomore guard Cameron Wells leads the team with 15.9 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. Entering Sunday, Presbyterian had a three-game winning streak and a 4-4 record. The Blue Hose play at Tulsa on Sunday afternoon prior to Wednesday's match-up with the Aggies.
Monday's game against The Citadel will be the first between the two teams. UC Davis defeated Presbyterian, 76-63, on the same date (Dec. 17) last year at The Pavilion in the only game in that series.
