DAVIS, Calif. - The UC Davis women's basketball team will continue preparations for the upcoming 2008-09 season by hosting Australian Showtime Basketball on Thursday night at The Pavilion in the first of two exhibition games on the schedule.
The Aggies, who will play former California Collegiate Athletic Association rival Sonoma State in another exhibition on Monday, will tip off with the touring team from Australia at 7 p.m. Admission is free to both exhibition matchups.
UC Davis opens the regular season on Nov. 14 at Southern Utah before traveling to Denver on Nov. 21. The Aggies make their home debut on Nov. 25 against San Francisco.
UC Davis, which returns two starters in All-Big West Conference selection Haylee Donaghe and post Paige Mintun, finished 19-12 last season while making an impressive debut in the Big West Conference. The Aggies finished 12-4 in the league, advancing to the tournament championship. They eventually earned a bid to the Women's National Invitational Tournament.
Australian Showtime Basketball is playing a seven-game tour throughout the west coast, opening with losses at Washington State and Idaho. After UC Davis, the team will continue with matchups at Saint Mary's, San Francisco, San Diego State and Biola.
