Final Stats

DAVIS, Calif. - Jessica Wilson scored nine of her team-high 20 points in overtime on Thursday night as UC Santa Barbara pulled away in the extra period to beat UC Davis 62-53 in a Big West Conference women's basketball game at The Pavilion after the Aggies rallied from a 12-point halftime deficit.

UC Davis had its four-game winning streak snapped, falling to 10-8 overall and 4-2 in the Big West. Senior Jessica Campbell scored a game-high 23 points for the the Aggies who had a chance at a game-winning shot in regulation but couldn't pull out the win. UCSB improved to 11-8 overall and 6-0 in the Big West.

The Gauchos led 33-21 at halftime but UC Davis rallied to take a 45-44 lead with 5 minutes, 58 seconds to go on a free throw from Paige Mintun. The Aggies went up 47-44 before the teams headed into the final four minutes tied 48-48. Neither team could score down the stretch with UC Davis keeping possession for the final 43 seconds but unable to get the winning score.

Wilson completed a double-double by adding a game-best 11 rebounds for UCSB which out-boarded the Aggies, 45-27. Genevieve Costello scored 13 points for the Aggies - the only other UC Davis player in double figures - and had their only trey. UC Davis was just 1 of 14 from beyond the arc.

The teams battled through a tough first half with UCSB using a 12-5 run just after the midway point to forge a 25-17 lead with 3:03 to go. It was 25-19 with 1:40 remaining but Wilson and Sha'Rae Gibbons had consecutive layups to spark a strong finish for the Gauchos who took a 33-21 lead into halftime.

The Aggies rallied in the second half, getting to within 34-29 with just under 15 minutes to play after a layup from Anna Harp. The margin stayed within a working distance for UC Davis which trailed 40-33 with 9:13 to go before a 7-2 surge got it close at 42-40 just over a minute later. Campbell - who was 9 of 10 from the line - hit two charity shots to tie the game 44-44 with 6:37 left before Minutun's foul shot gave UC Davis the lead by a point.

Trailing 48-46, the Gauchos tied the game on a layup from Whitney Warren with 3:52 to go. Both teams played good defense in the final minutes with UC Davis held to 0 for 5 from the field and the Aggies limiting UCSB to just one missed shot. UC Davis got the ball after a Gaucho turnover with 43 seconds left but Campbell missed from three with 15 seconds left - and after Kirsten Commins got the rebound and the Aggies spent a timeout - UC Davis could not get a shot off before the final buzzer.

Meagan Williams scored the Gauchos first four points of overtime for a 52-48 advantage while Wilson added a three-pointer, a jumper, a layup and two free throws in the extra period. UC Davis couldn't get closer than four points after the Gauchos took the early lead in overtime.

UC Davis shot just 31.4 percent for the game and had only five assists on 16 baskets. The Aggies did pick up 14 steals with Mintun and Commins each securing four. Haylee Donaghe, saddled with foul trouble for much of the game, had seven rebounds. Led by Campbell's nine makes, UC Davis was 20 of 24 from the line.

Warren added eight rebounds for the Gauchos who didn't have a player other than Wilson in double figures. Gibbons had five assists.

UC Davis, which is tied with Cal Poly for third place in the Big West, will host the Mustangs on Saturday at 7 p.m.
