HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. - Bryana Gregory shot a 2-under 70 in completing her suspended second round on Tuesday and eventually finished the Ron Moore Intercollegiate in a tie for 18th place as the UC Davis women's golf team completed its season-opening event in 15th.
The tournament, hosted by the University of Denver, was played at the 6,518-yard Highlands Ranch Golf Club. The host Pioneers shot an even-par 288 over the final round - the low round of the 54-hole event - and posted a nine-shot win over second-place Baylor with a 22-over score of 886.
The Aggies shot a four-person score of 314 in the final round after carding a 302 in the second round to finish at 932. The 302 marked their best round of the tournament.
Players weren't able to finish Monday's opening 36 holes and most had between three and six holes to complete on Tuesday morning before taking on the final round. Gregory, who had a 77 in the first round, was three under with six holes to play when play was halted on Monday evening. She eventually moved to four shots under par near the end of the second round before posting a team-low 70. She tied for 18th with two others players in the final standings.
Sophomore Kimberly Johnson had a strong final round, using three birdies to shoot a 74 and tie for 36th at 14-over 230. Johnson had a 76 in the second round. Lauren Dobashi tied for 71st at 239 while freshman Katie Sisler had scores of 79 and 82 over her final two rounds to tie for 74th one shot back.
Stephanie Sherlock of Denver posted a 3-under score of 213 to win by two strokes over Hannah Burke of Baylor.
UC Davis will return to action at the Heather Farr Memorial Tournament at Boulder, Colo., on Oct. 1 and 2.
