HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. -- Junior Bryana Gregory is currently three shots under par during her second round and in a tie for seventh at the suspended Ron Moore Intercollegiate while the UC Davis women's golf team is tied for 13th as it prepares for Tuesday's final day at the 56-hole tournament.
The tournament was halted on Monday evening due to darkness with most players having between three to six holes left to play in the second round. The suspended round will be finished on Tuesday morning with the final 18 holes to follow. The event, being played at the par-72, 6,518-yard Highlands Ranch Golf Club and hosted by the University of Denver, is the season-opener for the Aggies.
Gregory, who had a team-low 77 in Monday's first round, has six holes remaining in her second round. She opened the afternoon with a bogey on the par-4 16th but birdied the par-3 17th to even her score. Gregory posted four pars and a bogey on the front nine to lower her score to three under heading into her final six holes. She's currently tied for seventh in the individual standings at two shots over par and is tied for the best score in the second round with Kelly Fuchik ot Tulsa.
Gregory highlighted her first round with an eagle on the par-5 11th, 532-yard 11th hole. She's helped UC Davis to a 13th-place tie with San Francisco at 38 over par in the team standings. The Aggies had a team score of 316 in the morning's round and are 10 over in the second. Baylor is at 17 over and has a three-shot lead over Tulsa with Nebraska, Denver and San Jose State four shots off the lead.
The Aggies' Kimberly Johnson is just three shots over par in her second round with six holes remaining and is tied for 50th in the standings at 11 over. Freshman Katie Sisler had a 79 in her collegiate debut round - second-best on the team - and is tied for 56th at 12 over. Lauren Dobashi is at 14-over overall and tied for 70th while Brittany Smith is tied for 76th at 16 over.
Sisler and Smith each have six holes to complete their second rounds while Dobashi has three.
UC Davis is beginning its first season as an official member of NCAA Division I and the Big West Conference and is in just its third year overall as a varsity program.
