Final Stats

HANOVER, N.H. - Vince Oliver scored a game-high 19 points and Shane Hanson added 12, but it wasn't enough as Dartmouth overcame a late UC Davis rally to defeat the Aggies, 70-67, Monday night in Hanover, N.H. UC Davis trailed by 10 points with 13:42 to play before tying it at the 1:18 mark. The loss drops the Aggies to 4-4 while the Big Green improved to 4-4. DeVon Mosley and Johnathan Ball each scored 13 for Dartmouth. Alex Barnett added 12.

After a quick start by the Big Green, which gave them a 10-3 lead 4:27 into the game, UC Davis responded with an 8-0 run over the next three minutes to take an 11-10 lead. Vince Oliver scored on the front and back ends of the run while Nathan Clark and David Carter also had buckets.

From that point, neither team would lead by more than two until Dartmouth opened up a 32-27 lead with 1:39 left in the half. Mark Payne, who finished with 10 points, closed the Aggie first half scoring with a three-point play with 1:11 left. That put Dartmouth up 32-30 at the break.

An Oliver layup one minute into the second half tied the game at 32-32 before Dartmouth ran off six straight points. A jumper by C.J. Portz and a trey by Kyle Brucculeri made it 38-37 at the 15:19 mark. That preceded a 9-0 run by the Big Green as they opened up a 47-37 lead over six minutes into the second half.

Just as the Aggies did two days before against Brown, they went to work with another rally to get back into the game. Hanson started it with a layup followed by a three-point play by Portz. After a Dartmouth turnover, Hanson made a pair of free throws to complete a 7-0 Aggie run and drawing visitors within 47-44.

Dartmouth would later lead 64-59 with 2:51 left after an Barnett jumper. On the next Aggie possession, a Payne layup cut it to 64-61. A shot clock violation by the Big Green gave the ball back to UC Davis, and Oliver took advantage by making his only three-point attempt of the game and tying the game at 64-64.

Mosley made a jumper with 46 seconds left to put Dartmouth up for good at 66-64. Carter would go 1-2 from the line with 21 seconds left before Brandon Ware made two free throws three seconds later to give the Big Green a 68-65 lead.

Payne connected on a layup with 13 seconds left to once again cut the deficit to one, but Dartmouth was able to elude Aggie defenders in their next possession before Mosley was fouled with 3.9 seconds left. His free throws accounted for the final score as Payne missed a 45-footer at the buzzer.

Dartmouth shot 57 percent from the field while the Aggies made 48 percent of their shots. UC Davis shot a blistering 63 percent in the second half. The Big Green held the advantage on the boards, outrebounding the Aggies 33-19. UC Davis committed just 10 turnovers while forcing 13.

Carter finished the night with seven points while Brucculeri had six. Clark and Portz each scored five. Hanson led the Aggies with seven rebounds and was joined by Barnett for game-high honors.

UC Davis is next in action Friday when it hosts Oregon State at The Pavilion. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
