RICHMOND, Calif. - Junior Eryn Williams is tied for fourth after 36 holes of the USF/Richmond Country Club Invitational thanks to a solid 1-over 72 in Monday's second round as UC Davis finished the first two rounds tied for second, just one shot behind leader Texas Tech.
UC Davis has six golfers - including one playing as an individual - in the top 18 placings in the 50-player field. Junior Bryana Gregory, the Big West Conference Golfer of the Month for October, is tied for 13th at 11-over 153 with freshman teammate Chelsea Stelzmiller, while freshman Alice Kim is tied for 18th one shot behind at 154.
Junior Kelsey Fischer, playing as an individual, is also at 154. Senior Sydney Roughton is tied for 42nd at 165.
The Aggies had rounds of 308 and 309 to end the first two rounds tied with UNLV at 607. Texas Tech leads the nine-team tournament at 606 after shooting a Monday-best score of 301 in the afternoon round. The Aggies and Rebels are seven shots ahead of Boise State and eight in front of Oregon.
Williams, playing in just her second tournament of the fall, opened her day with an 85 before rebounding to cut 13 strokes and shoot 72 in her second 18 holes. Williams was the only player in the tournament to finish the day below par on the par-3 holes, shooting 1-under for day, and tied with Stelzmiller for most pars with 25.
Gregory's best round was the second when she shot a 75, Stelzmiller had a 75 on her first round and Kim had the second-best round of the day for the Aggies when she fired a 74 in the afternoon. UC Davis had a tournament-best 110 pars on Monday.
The tournament concludes with 18 holes on Tuesday.
