LONG BEACH, Calif. - Facing its highest-ranked opponent of the season, UC Davis was defeated by Long Beach State, 6-1, Saturday afternoon, in Long Beach. The 49ers, ranked No. 23, swept doubles to earn the match's first point before winning five of six in singles. Robin Guier picked up the lone point of the day for the Aggies with a three-set victory at No. 2.

In doubles, LBSU's Sandra Rocha and Katy Williams defeated Guier and Ally Muller, 8-3 at No. 1. At No. 2, Stephanie Bengson and Rachael Porsz posted an 8-6 victory over Jenna Kappel and Nancy Mok. Krystina Katayama and Jessica Weeks were also victorious in an 8-3 victory over Emma Shapiro and Audrey Wingo at No. 3.

In singles, Long Beach State (15-4) posted wins in straight sets in all matches but No. 2. That's where Guier gave UC Davis (4-14) its only point with a 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 victory over Bengson.

The match was the seventh this season for the Aggies against a nationally-ranked team.

UC Davis concludes its three-match road trip Sunday when it is scheduled to face UC Riverside at 10 a.m.
