DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis head football coach Bob Biggs announced on Tuesday that offensive lineman Reginald Mason of Modesto High School has signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the Aggie football team this fall.
Mason, a 6--foot-5, 230-pound standout lineman, earned All-Modesto Metro League first-team honors this season, helping Modesto High School capture a league championship and advance to the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs. He was named second-team all-league as a junior. In addition to football, Mason has also lettered in track and field and basketball, earning most improved player honors in the latter in 2005.
He joins 17 other newcomers who either signed NLI's or athletic aid agreements earlier this recruiting season.
UC Davis, in the third year of a four-year reclassification to Division I-AA status, finished 6-5 overall in 2005 and won a share of the Great West Football Conference with a 4-1 record. The Aggies also secured their 36th consecutive winning season while also highlighting their year with a stunning 20-17 win at Stanford on Sept. 17.
