No. 59 UC Irvine Dominates UC Davis

March 11, 2006

GOLD RIVER, Calif. - UC Irvine defeated UC Davis, 6-0, Saturday at the Spare Time Indoor Tennis Center in Gold River, Calif. The Anteaters entered the match ranked no. 59 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll. The match featured singles play only as UCI won all six of the matches in straight sets.

UCI's Becky Bernhard picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win at no. 1 over Ally Muller. Inna Agababian did the same at no. 2 with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Robin Guier. Ashley Siddall, Bela Mijic, Heidi Kaloi and Jessica Broadfoot all claimed victories as well at no. 3-6, respectively.

The match started with singles play, and since the Anteaters clinched the victory with the six points, doubles were not played.

The contest was originally scheduled for the Marya Welch Tennis Center at UC Davis Saturday morning but was switched to the indoor facility in the evening due to the cold weather.

UC Davis (1-10) is scheduled to face Cal State Fullerton Sunday morning at 10 a.m. at the Marya Welch Tennis Center.
