FRESNO, Calif. -- Danielle Cvitanov fired a 1-over 73 on Monday and is tied for 10th place in the individual standings, helping the UC Davis women's golf team finish the first round in eighth-place at the Kitahara Fresno State Invitational, being played at the par-72, 6,004-yard Copper River Country Club.
UC Irvine has a nine-shot lead at the 19-team after firing a team score of 3-under 285. New Mexico State is in second at 294 and Long Beach State is in third at 296. The Aggies are sandwiched at 308 between Oregon State, which is seventh at 303, and the host Bulldogs who are in ninth at 305.
Cvitanov is in a group that had 73's on Monday and is tied for 10th, just two shots ahead of teammate Jee Park who had 75 and is tied for 24th. Brittany Smith finished with a 77 and is tied for 44th, Eryn Williams had 79 and is tied for 60th, and Bryana Gregory carded an 82 and is tied for 81st.
Selanee Henderson of UC Irvine fired a 5-under 67 and leads the tournament.
Play continues on Tuesday morning with the final round.
