DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis was defeated by Nevada, 6-1, Sunday in women's tennis action at the Marya Welch Tennis Center. The Wolf Pack swept doubles play, claiming the match's first point, before winning five of six in singles. Robin Guier stayed red-hot for the Aggies, though, with her fourth straight victory.

In doubles, Nevada (3-4) received victories from Caroline Bailly and Kristen Davenport at no. 1, Audrey Bardot and Myriam Bouchlaka at no. 2, and Bach-Lan Pham and Fiorella Velez at no. 3.

Things were a bit more contested in singles, despite the five wins by Nevada. UC Davis (1-5) claimed its lone point at no. 2 where Guier easily handled Davenport, 6-2, 6-0. The Wolf Pack picked up three wins in straight sets at no. 1, no. 4 and no. 6. However, it took super-tiebreakers at no. 3 and no. 5 before the Wolf Pack could post wins. At no. 3, Velez defeated Audrey Wingo, 7-5, 2-6, 10-6. At no. 5, Pham claimed a 3-6, 6-1, 11-9 victory over Nancy Mok.

"It was another tough one for us," said UC Davis head coach Bill Maze. "We feel like we're learning from each match, and that's a good thing. Nevada is a much-improved team from a year ago."

UC Davis is next in action Feb. 24 when it faces Santa Clara on the road.
