UC Davis continued to build the lead throughout the second half, reaching the century mark on a layup by Oliver with 14:10 to play.

"I think for the first game we did some good things," said head coach Gary Stewart. "Our energy ebbed and flowed and that's to be expected. But for the most part we played with the passion and intensity that we needed."

Guard Rommel Marentez had 11 assists and eight steals for the Aggies, who had 24 steals overall. UC Davis was also 33 of 46 from the line. Frank Henry-Ala led the team with nine rebounds.
