FOOTBALL
2005 Record: 0-1
Last week: Lost to No.7 New Hampshire, 13-17
Notes: WR Tony Kays tied school record with 12 catches and had a career-best 135 yds in tough loss to Wildcats... CB Nevan Bergan had 2 int's to help defense which limited UNH to just 3 pts until Wildcats struck for 14 points in last 3:34... Aggies held 13-10 lead with 1:31 left after QB Jon Grant's 1-yard TD pass to WR Brandon Rice.

WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL
2005 Record: 2-3
Last week: Won vs. Idaho St. & Wash. St;, & lost to Toledo at Aggie Inv.
Notes: Freshman Chantal Paschetta and junior Nicole Read each earned all-tournament honors at Aggie Invitational... UC Davis beat Washington State to earn program's first win over Pac-10 team since beating Cougars in 1982... Paschetta posted 31 kills, most since Brandi Glenn in 1997... L Nichole Brown had 31 digs vs. WSU.

MEN'S SOCCER
2005 Record: 1-0-1
Last week: Tied Oregon St., 1-1; Won vs. Stanford, 1-0
Notes: Aggies open unbeaten, playing Oregon State to 1-1 tie and beating Stanford, 1-0... Win over Cardinal is program's first victory over Pac-10 team in Dwayne Shaffer's tenure... Freshman Dan Campbell scored both goals off the bench... UC Davis faces Dayton, where Shaffer coached before joining Aggie program, on Sept. 11.

WOMEN'S SOCCER
2005 Record: 1-3
Last week: Lost vs. Boise St., 0-1; Won vs. Northern Arizona, 2-1 at NAU Tournament
Notes: Former Aggie soccer club member Julia Gamlen scored Aggies' first goal of 2005 in 2-1 victory over Northern Arizona... Sophomore F Megan Wall hit game-winner in 82nd minute to beat Lumberjacks... UC Davis outshot Boise State, 17-9, in Friday's game but lost to early goal... Aggies have outshot opponents 68-34 in four games.

MEN'S WATER POLO
2005 Record: 3-1
Last week: Went 3-1 at Triton Invitatonal
Notes: Senior Patrick Jacobson accumulated nine goals during the UC San Diego tournament, five were scored against UC Santa Cruz... Joseph Smith tallied two goals within two minutes of each other to give the Aggies the lead over Redllands in the fourth quarter... Aggies will face the 2004 national championship runner-up Stanford on Sat.
Quote: "Going three for four is a great weekend. It was a good start and we just need to keep working. This weekend we made too many mistakes and we need to learn from them. The guys are hungry to play Stanford." - Steve Doten.
MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
2004 Finish: Won NCAA Div. I Independents Championships
Notes: UC Davis returns a solid group to this year's squad, including junior Jorge Murillo who finished second as the Aggies won the D-I Independents... Chris Ferren-Cirino (5th) and Tony Ahr (10th) are other top-10 finishers that return from the meet... UC Davis hosts this year's Aggie Open at a new site... Saturday's race will be an 8K.
Quote: "We had a solid week of training at Pt. Reyes. It's going to be a good meet this weekend and a great opener and we're happy we'll be at Wildhorse Golf Course. It'll be a challenging course." - Head Coach Jason Jaques.
WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
2004 Finish: Won NCAA Div. I Independents Championships
Notes: Sophomore Kim Conley returns to the Aggie lineup after a standout freshman season which saw her capture first place at the D-I Independent Championships... She had two other meets last year where she finished second... Senior Michelle Solone and sophomore Lorin Scott are other key returnees to the 2005 squad.
Quote: "We have an extremely young team. It'll be a good season for us to continue to develop and this is just a starting point for our to team to continue to grow as a unit." - Head Coach Jason Jaques.

ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT TIPS
* The Aggies' home football game against Portland State on Saturday will be televised on Comcast SportsNet West... UC Davis' homecoming game on Oct. 29 will also be televised... Saturday's kickoff is 6:07 pm.
* The Aggie Cross Country Open has a new location this season... The meet is scheduled for Saturday & will be contested at Wildhorse Golf Course in Davis, providing a challenging layout... The women's 5K race is a 9 a.m. while the men's 8K race is at 9:45... Admission is free... The meet was previously held on the UC Davis campus near The Pavilion.
* CB Nevan Bergan was named the Great West Football Conference Defensive Player of the Week after intercepting two passes and collecting six total tackles during the Aggies' heartbreaking loss to New Hampshire.
