DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis cornerback Nevan Bergan was named the Great West Football Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after intercepting two passes and posting six tackles during the Aggies' tough 17-13 loss to No.7 New Hampshire on Saturday night at Toomey Field.

Bergan, a 5-foot-11, 170-pound junior from San Diego, picked off his first pass in the second quarter and returned it 13 yards, adding another pick in the fourth quarter which he brought back 25 yards. Bergan entered the game with one career interception. Four of his six tackles on Saturday were solo efforts against the high-powerd Wildcats, who were held to just three points until late in the fourth quarter.

UC Davis, 0-1, returns to action on Saturday against Portland State at Toomey Field.
