National Ranking: Received votes in The Sports Network and ESPN/USA Today polls of Sept. 26
Notes: QB Jon Grant was named the GWFC Offensive Player of the Week for the 2nd straight week after passing for 321 yds and 3 TDs... He also rushed for 2 scores... Defense continues to shine, holding Sac State to 196 yds of offense, the 2nd straight week the Aggies have held an opponent below 200.. WR Tony Kays has Div. I-AA best 47 receptions.

VOLLEYBALL
2005 Record:

Last week: Lost to Long Beach State, 0-3; Lost to UC Irvine, 0-3
Notes: Aggies return home after playing nine of last 10 matches on the road... Freshman OH Chantal Paschetta had 10 kills vs. Anteaters, the only double-figure offensive output of the weekend... UC Davis hit even .000 (45-45-187), while opponents hit .426 (114-27-204) in pair of three-game sweeps.
Quote: "It's obvious that the teams that finished near the bottom last year are superior this year. It will be important that we pick up our level for conference matches." - Head Coach Stephanie Hawbecker.

MEN'S SOCCER

Last week: Lost at UC Irvine, 0-1; Lost at UC Riverside, 1-2 (2ot)
Notes: Freshman D Juan Hernandez scored with 1:28 remaining in regulation to force overtime with UC Riverside... Aggies lost both games on outside shots: UCI's Doug Franco delivered from 25 yards in 55th minute, UCR's Juan Gutierrez scored from 20 yards with 26 seconds remaining in second OT.
Quote: "We created some chances but we're just not being aggressive enough in front of the goal. We're trying to score the pretty goal instead of just scoring." - Head Coach Dwayne Shaffer.

WOMEN'S SOCCER

Last week: Tied Colorado College, 1-1; Beat Air Force, 2-0
Notes: Sophomore F Megan Wall scored a goal in each game last weekend, bringing her season total to three... She has now matched last year's scoring total... Sophomore Megan Daws and senior Krystyn Lizak combined for shutout vs. Falcons... Daws, making her 2005 debut, posted five saves in second half of the win.

MEN'S WATER POLO
2005 Record:
7-7
Last week: Went 3-1 at the UC Santa Cruz Slugfest
Notes: The Aggies took three wins over Western Water Polo Association opponents Whittier, Cal Lutheran, and Redlands at this year's Slugfest... The single loss came against No. 8 Long Beach State, 14-9... Patrick Jacobson led the team with 10 goals scored... Adam Bennett and Paul Wilson also scored their first collegiate goals.
Quote: "Having this week off will allow us to switch gears and shift from quanity of conditioning to quality of play. The guys have been doing great with the training, conditioning, and tough opponents." - Head Coach Steve Doten.

MEN'S GOLF
Last
Week: 6th of 17 at Kansas Invitational
Notes: Aggies opened fall season with 3-over par performance... Nate Pistacchio fired team-bet 69 during second round while Ramie Sprinkling finished at 1-over for tournament, good enough for T22nd... Host Kansas won the event... UC Davis play 2nd of 4 fall tourneys next week before preparing to host The Prestige at PGA WEST.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Last Week:
7th of 32 in 8K at Stanford Invitational
Notes: Chris Ferren-Cirino (33rd, 24:48), Tony Ahr (38th, 24:53) and Jorge Murillo (44th, 25:01) finished within 13 seconds of each other as UC Davis finished in top 10 of 8K race... Aggies posted a 46-second time-gap from its 1st through 5th runners... Aggies head to Willamette next after finishing winning the team title last year.
Quote: "We were able to get out a quick pace and run consistently for all 8 kilometers. That same strategy will be key for us at the Willamette Invitat" - Head Coach Jason Jaques.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Last Week:
5th of 17 in 4K & 19th of 32 in 6K at Stanford Invitational
Notes: Aggies split into two teams at Stanford, with each participating in scored races... The idea was for runners to focus on individual racing in preparations for this weekend's trip to Willamette... Kim Conley (15th, 14:56) was top Aggie finisher in 4K race... Michelle Solone (51st, 23:02) was the 1st Aggie runner in the 6K competition.
Quote: "Stanford allowed us to work to our individual strengths and we'll see how they come together this week as team up in Oregon." - Head Coach Jason Jaques.

GENERAL TIPS
· Women's golf is idle until traveling to the Bronco Fall Invitational at Boise State on Oct. 10-11... The Aggies finished 8th in their first-ever tournament... UC Davis is fielding a team comprised of all freshmen.
