Last Week: 3rd of 9 at Aggie Open
Notes: Sophomore Kim Conley began sophomore season with 8-place finish at 5K Aggie Open... Conley was timed in 18:40.9, earning NCAA Div. I Independent Runner of the Week honors... UC Davis' top five runners each finished among top 16 placers with 22-second gap... Aggies prepare for tough competition at Stanford on 9/24. Quote: "I'm happy with the pack running that was exhibited during the race. Now we're looking for some individuals to start stepping up and really push the pace to increase our front pack." - Head Coach Jason Jaques.
WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Last Week: 2nd of 8 at Aggie Open
Notes: UC Davis embarks on a two-week layoff in preparation of its next competition at the Stanford Invitational... Tony Ahr was named the NCAA Div. I Independents Runner of the Week after finishing 6th (25:57.1) at 8K Aggie Open... Aggies finished in 8th through 12th spots with 49-second gap from their 1st through 5th runners.

FOOTBALL (0-2)
National Ranking: Received votes in The Sports Network poll of Sept. 12
Last week: Lost vs. Portland State, 12-14 Notes: WR Tony Kays earned GWFC Player of the Week honors after a school-record 15 catches against Portland State... He also bettered his career best with 165 receiving yards... He has 27 catches for 300 yards after two games... Defense was tough against the rush, holding Vikings to 33 yards... Much anticipated game vs. Stanford is next on schedule.

VOLLEYBALL (2-7)
Last week: Lost to Montana State, 0-3; Went 0-3 at Montana Invitational
Notes: Freshman L Nichole Brown won all-tournament honors at Montana Invitational, posting 35 digs in 10 games... Junior MB Jenny Pierce had 18 kills and 9 blocks in 3-game loss to Montana and 4-game loss to Gonzaga on Saturday... Aggies hit season-best .230 against Zags, improving from -.015 vs. New Mexico on Friday.

WOMEN'S GOLF
This Week: 8th of 15 after 36 holes at Oregon State Invitational
Notes: UC Davis began play in its first-ever tournament on Tuesday, carding a team score of 611 after 36 holes... The Aggies are competing with a lineup of five true freshmen... Jee Park had back-to-back rounds of 74 and was 9th after the first day... Brittany Smith had the low round of the day with a 1-over 73 in the opening round... The Aggies had team tryouts last week before embarking on their inaugural competition... Former softball coach Kathy DeYoung, who led UC Davis to the 2003 D-2 title, is the program's head coach.
MEN'S SOCCER (3-0-1)
Last week: Won vs. Notre Dame de Namur, 1-0; Won vs. Dayton, 1-0 (2ot)
Notes: Aggies off to best start since opening 4-0 in 2001... Both games were won in final minutes: Mariano Arrua in 90th minute vs. Argos, Nicholas Lind in 119th minute vs. Flyers... Freshman Quincy Amarikwa had both assists... Freshman GK Derek Shaffer earned 2nd shutout in as many appearance with performance vs. Dayton.

WOMEN'S SOCCER (2-3)
Last week: Won vs. Nevada, 2-0Notes: Junior D Katie Snyder scored 1st career goal, connecting on 20-yarder to beat Wolf Pack in 87th minute... She leads team with 13 shots... Heather Finlayson added a goal with 0:14 remaining... Aggies have shot 4-for-20 in last 2 games, after going scoreless in 59 shots during opening 3 contests... UC Davis at San Jose State next.

MEN'S WATER POLO (3-3)
Last week: Lost vs. Stanford, 9-7; Lost vs. Pacific, 11-7 Notes: Senior Patrick Jacobson continues to lead UC Davis in scoring with 12 goals, three of which were scored this weekendJunior Kevin Bacharach had a standout weekend as he tallied a pair of goals in each game. UC Davis will head to Irvine this weekend for the Southern California Tourney where their first game will be against Western Water Polo Association foe UC San Diego... 1st game will determine Ags' tourney schedule.

ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT TIPS
* Women's novice rowing will hold an informational meeting for UC Davis students interested in joining the program... The meeting will be held in 6 Wellman Hall on the UC Davis campus on Oct. 4 at 7:30 p.m.
* Saturday's football game at Stanford can be heard live on KHTK (1140 AM), KDVS 90.3 FM) and on the internet at www.UCDavisAggies.com... The game will not be televised.
