DAVIS, Calif. - Tracy Cumming and Doug Hess are the newest members of the UC Davis Athletics staff with Cumming joining as NCAA Compliance Coordinator and Hess named as Assistant Athletic Trainer, it was announced on Friday.
Additionally, Bill Stevens, Athletics Media Relations Assistant Director, has announced his resignation to assume similar duties at Washington State later this month.
Cumming was most recently the Associate Athletics Director and Senior Women's Administrator at San Francisco State where her responsibilities included monitoring the athletic program's compliance with NCAA, conference and instituional rules and regulations. Prior to her tenure at San Francisco State, she served in a similar position for six years at Clarion University in Pennsylvania.
Cumming received her bachelor's degree in physical education (sport management) from the University of Iowa in 1991, while also earning a minor in business. She obtained her master's in physical education (sport management) from Kent State in 1995. At UC Davis, she'll assist Jennifer Cardone, Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance Services.
Hess joins the Aggies' athletic training staff after serving two years as Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at the University of Northern Iowa. While at Northern Iowa, he was the head athletic trainer for baseball, men's and women's golf, and women's swimming, and was involved in all areas of the athletic training program. Hess was an undergraduate athletic training student at Upper Iowa University and was recently a volunteer athletic trainer at Davis High School.
Hess earned his undergraduate degree in athletic training with a minor in psychology from Upper Iowa in 2001, and his master's in exercise science from Northern Iowa in 2004. He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association.
Both Cumming and Hess have assumed their duties at UC Davis.
Stevens, a 1987 graduate of Washington State, has been a member of the athletics media relations staff since 2000 serving as the primary media contact for several teams including men's and women's basketball, and baseball. Prior to UC Davis, Stevens was employed by the Sacramento Kings in their marketing and media relations departments. He was a member of the tennis team while at Washington State.
