Aggies Fall To Pacific

DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis was defeated by Pacific, 84-51, Thursday evening in men's basketball action at The Pavilion in Davis, Calif. The Tigers scored the first nine points of the game and never trailed. Phil Rasmussen and Kyle Brucculeri each led the Aggies with 16 points while Pacific's Andy Brown led all scorers with 18.

The Tigers took control of the game early, leading 9-0 at the 17:23 mark. The Aggies came back with a 7-1 run, helped by five points from Brucculeri to pull within 10-7. That's as close as UC Davis (3-8) would get as Pacific (8-4) opened up a 25-13 advantage with 7:12 left in the half and ultimately led 36-18 at the break. Pacific shot 52 percent in the first half and held UC Davis to 26 percent from the field.

The Aggies never were able to get any closer than 16 points in the second half. The Tigers shot a blistering 70 percent in the second half, making 16 of 23 shots. The Aggies were held to 31 percent in the final 20 minutes.

For the game, the Tigers shot 60 percent from the field and held the Aggies to 31 percent.

Both Brucculeri and Rasmussen connected four times from beyond the arc as the Aggies shot 10-for-23 from three-point range. The Aggies committed just nine turnovers while forcing the Tigers into 16.

The Tigers had three other players in double-figures with Christian Maraker finishing with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Michael White added 12, and Steffan Johnson scored 11.

UC Davis next takes to the road where it will face Long Beach State on Jan. 2 and UC Irvine on Jan. 4.
