MEN'S BASKETBALL
2004-05 Final Record: 11-17
Last Week: won vs. Dominican, 76-71 (exh.)
Notes: Gary Stewart begins 3rd season as head coach as UC Davis welcomes back two starters... PG Rommel Marentez (9.6 ppg last year) had 25 points in Aggies' exhibition win on Saturday... P Thomas Juillerat (7.2 ppg./3.8 rpg) is also back... UC Davis opens year with trio of road games, including 2nd-ever meeting with Northern Arizona... 'Jacks won vs. Aggies in `04.
Quote: "I'm not concerned about wins and losses in exhibitions. Those games give us a barometer on where we are and the things we need to improve." - Head Coach Gary Stewart.

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
2004-05 Final Record: 9-18
Last Week: won vs. San Francisco State, 93-69 (exh.)
Notes: Aggies return all 5 starters from last year's team, including leading scorer P Ellen Porshneva (13.6 ppg), leading rebounder Lara Gray (7.6 rpg) and leader in assists, PG Jackie Turpin (132)... W Kimberly Smith also returns after making team-best 72 treys... Aggies' game on Nov. 22 at Cal will be aired on Comcast SportsNet.

MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Last Week: Idle
Notes: UC Davis concludes its season by facing some of the top club runners in the country in USATF championships in Rochester, N.Y... 10k race is expected to feature past and future Olympians... Aggies will take 8 runners to meet dubbed "Feast in the East" by organizers... UC Davis has not raced since PA/USATF West Regional on Nov. 6... Patrick Parsel finished 21st to lead squad... USATF meet is serving as a postseason competition for reclassifying Aggies.

WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Last Week: Idle
Notes: Kim Conley, who finished 27th at recent PA/USATF West Regionals, leads 8 Aggies at USATF Club Nationals this weekend in New York... 6K women's race will be contested at Genesee Valley Park where cold conditions are expected... Race is season finale for UC Davis.
Quote: "We'll get another look at some of the schools we saw at the Independent Championships. We're looking to improve on racing over the last two miles." - Head Coach Jason Jaques.

FOOTBALL
2005 Record: 5-4 overall, 3-1 (2nd) in Great West
Rankings: Received votes in both The Sports Network and ESPN/USA Today Polls
Last Week: Idle
Notes: Aggie need 1 win to secure 36th consecutive winning season... Eastern Washington is ranked No.19 by TSN, marking 4th ranked opponent for UC Davis... Aggies will tie for GWFC championship with win vs. Northern Colorado next week... WR Tony Kays is T2nd in I-AA rankings for catches per game (8.67)... Rush defense is ranked 3rd (84.2 ypg)

WOMEN'S GOLF
Last Week: 1st of 14 at Cal Poly Invitational
Notes: Danielle Cvitanov won program's 1st individual title with 3-stroke victory at Cal Poly... She posted 3-under, 143 for title... Team title was 2nd in four tourneys for 1st-year Aggie program... UC Davis had four players in top 10 at Cal Poly & five in top 14... Every Aggie that played had season-best finishes as team ended fall season.
Quote: "We're going to be facing tougher and tougher competition with the tournaments coming up in the spring. That'll be good experience. It should help us that we had such a great fall." - Head Coach Kathy DeYoung.

MEN'S SOCCER
2005 Final Record: 7-10-2
Last Week: Lost to Cal State Northridge, 0-5; Lost to Cal Poly, 0-1
Notes: Aggies finish season with pair of shutout losses... Friday's 5-0 loss to the Matadors is the most allowed by UC Davis since Cal Poly won 5-2 in 1991... Sophomore MF Nicholas Lind finished as team leader in goals (3) and points (9)... Aggies graduate just one player, junior D Steven Ernst.
Quote: "When I look at our season, my impression is that we improved our defensive statistics and our victory total, and young student-athletes got a chance to play a lot. So a lot of good things can come from it. You can't practice the type of environment that our freshmen went through. As a coach, all I can hope is that they learned from it and that it helps us in the future." - Head Coach Dwayne Shaffer.

MEN'S SWIMMING & DIVING
2005 Record: 3-2 in duals
Last Week: Idle
Notes: The Aggie men will head to Long Beach this weekend to compete in the Speedo Cup, a swim meet consisting of 14 men's teams and 22 women's teams... The Aggies last competed at the Big West Shootout earlier this month where they won Pool `B' on the second day of the meet with dual wins over Cal Poly and Cal State Northridge.
Quote: "This weekend will be a great opportunity to swim against some great competition, especially the Stanford men because they add a level an element of class we don't get to see often." - Assistant Coach Rick Henderson

VOLLEYBALL
2005 Record: 4-24
Last Week: Lost to Cal Poly, 1-3; lost at Nevada, 0-3 (Tues.)
Notes: Junior MB Jenny Pierce served up career-high 5 aces (of team's 13) in four-game battle with Cal Poly... Aggies led 26-21 late in Game 4 before Mustangs made comeback push... Freshman L Nichole Brown ranks 3rd on school's season digs list with 463... She needs 24 to pass Mary McClelland for 2nd, 31 to break Candy Lench's 1990 Aggie record.
Quote: "I'm pleased with everyone right now. Even if people aren't playing a lot, they're working hard, keeping their chins up and pushing us in practice." - Head Coach Stephanie Hawbecker.

MEN'S WATER POLO
2005 Record: 15-13
Last Week: Lost to Long Beach State, 7-12
National Ranking: Held No. 14 in USWPA Collegiate Poll for third straight week
Notes: The Aggies received the No. 3 seed into this weekend's Western Water Polo Association conference championships... The first game will be versus No. 6 seed Air Force who the Aggies defeated 10-3 on Oct. 30... UC Davis finished 4th at last year's tournament... Tourney winner gets automatic berth into NCAA Final Four... Senior Patrick Jacobson leads team with 54 goals.

WRESTLING
2005 Record: 0-1 overall; 0-0 in Pac-10
Last Week: Lost vs. Navy (at Bakersfield), 13-23
Notes: Omar Gaitan (133), Jeff Bristol (141), Eliot Kelly (197) and Marcos Orozco (125) each collected their first win of the season as the Aggies fell to Navy in the first dual of the season... Gaitan came back from a 0-5 deficit to win in an 11-8 decision... Kelly used three reversals to win his match in a 17-9 major decsion... Aggies open Pac-10 dual season at Cal State Fullerton on Friday... UC Davis will stay for Saturday tourney.
