MORAGA, Calif. - UC Davis sophomore Robin Guier defeated Mylene Martin of San Francisco by a 6-2, 6-1 score in the semifinal of the Blue singles draw to lead Aggie action at the Saint Mary's Invitational collegiate women's tennis tournament Saturday.

Guier, who had won her quarterfinal over Saint Mary's Erin Young in straight sets on Friday, will take on the winner of sixth-seeded Aude Lambert of Saint Mary's and second-seeded Bojan Bobusic of Cal at 10:45 on Sunday.

Guier and senior teammate Ally Muller were not as fortunate in their doubles semifinal draw. They faced Cal's top-seeded tandem of Bobusic and Claire Ilicinkas, falling by a respectable 8-4 margin.

In the Red doubles championship draw, Katilin Callan and Yuka Otaka lost a tough 9-7 semifinal to Sanda Hadzisabic and Rokie Larijani of San Jose State.

Callan, Otaka, and Jenna Kappel also picked up Red 'B' singles wins for UC Davis. Callan defeated Sanda Hadzisabic of San Jose State in a 6-2, 7-6 consolation second-round match, then retired from her quarterfinal match with Dunya Stakovic of the host Gaels. Otaka held a 5-2 lead over Beckey Keihn of Sonoma State before her opponent retired due to injury. Kappel breezed past Nevada's Kristen Davenport, 6-1, 6-1, in the Red consolation quarters.

Additionally, Emma Shapiro posted a straight-sets win in her White consolation first-round match, beating Sonoma State's Megan Malinsky by a 6-2, 6-2 final. Kappel and senior Nancy Mok also enjoyed a doubles victory, topping Keihn and Erin Kramer by an 8-2 final in their consolation quarterfinals.

The Saint Mary's Inviational continues through Sunday.
