BERKELEY, Calif. - Senior Ally Muller defeated New Mexico's Lucy Scott, 6-2, 6-4, in consolation round-robin play to highlight UC Davis action at the Cal Invitational women's collegiate tennis tournament Saturday.
Muller had her team's lone win of the day. Sophomore teammate Robin Guier fell to Cal's Jessica Shu by a 6-1, 6-1 score in the quarterfinals of the Gold consolation bracket. The two Aggies also had an unlucky draw in the Gold doubles consolation bracket, facing 4th-seeded Suzi Fodor and Suzy Babos of Cal. Muller-Guier lost, 8-0, in their matchup with the Golden Bear tandem, which had been upset in Friday's competition.
Muller and Guier were the only UC Davis players entered in the tourney, which featured players from all around the country.
