ABOUT THE AGGIE FIELD HOCKEY FACILITY
On Aug. 23, 2014, UC Davis field hockey held the inaugural event at Aggie Field Hockey Facility, its new home, when alumni competed against members of the 2014 team. Made possible thanks to the collaborative efforts of donors, parents, the athletics department and campus, the USA Field Hockey-certified turf brought immediate benefits to the Aggies, allowing players and coaches to practice and compete on the regulation field hockey surface currently used at nearly every collegiate program in the country.
Since regaining varsity status in 2009, field hockey competed on a bladed artificial turf at UC Davis Health Stadium — one that was more suited for football and lacrosse and leads to a slower-paced game. By comparison, Aggie Field Hockey Facility sports a synthetic turf field that is a faster playing surface.
