Bringing 17 years of experience as a field hockey coach at the collegiate and international levels, head coach Britt Broady enters her fifth season at the helm for the Aggies in 2021.
Since arriving on campus mere months before her inaugural season at UC Davis in 2017, the field hockey program experienced tremendous growth, highlighted by a five-win differential in 2018 under Broady's tutelage. UC Davis won back-to-back games three times in 2018 and improved in nearly every statistical category with the most shots and goals scored for the program since 2015 while allowing 18 fewer goals than 2017.
The program continued its upward trajectory in 2019 with an increased win total, an accomplishment that took place for the third year in a row, and the highest winning percentage in program history.
With 17 years of coaching experience at American University, Louisville, Duke, with USA Field Hockey and the Aggies, UC Davis will continue to make great strides in becoming one of the America East Conference's premiere teams —both from an academic and athletic standpoint — in 2021.
Coach Broady is committed to expanding the sport's footprint in Northern California by recruiting student-athletes seeking the best possible college experience: an education at the fifth-ranked public school in the country and opportunity to compete at the highest level of intercollegiate athletics.
Throughout her tenure at Louisville the Cardinals collected five conference titles and advanced to the NCAA’s postseason three times. Broady also played a vital role in the team’s recruiting efforts, camp organization and on-field skill development of its backs and goalkeepers. Two Louisville goalkeepers earned NFHCA All-America accolades and Goalkeeper of the Year awards from conference officials.
During her five years at Duke, the Blue Devils advanced to the Final Four twice and competed for a national championship in 2013. In addition to numerous All-America, All-Region, and All-ACC awards bestowed to her student-athletes, the team’s defense ranked among the nation’s best thanks to Broady’s instruction.
Before her first stint with the Cardinals, Broady began her college coaching career at American University. In each of her two seasons, the Eagles won a Patriot League Tournament championship.
Broady, a USA Field Hockey Level III certified coach, has played an active role within the organization for nearly two decades. As a coach for the Under-21 Junior National Team, Team USA won a silver medal at 2016 Pan American Games and finished eighth at the 2016 Junior World Cup.
Before arriving to Davis, Broady served as the Regional Development Manager for the Futures program, and head coach for the Level 1 site in Louisville. As a coach for USA Field Hockey’s Olympic Development and High Performance programs, she has been an instrumental figure at Junior National Camp, National Futures, Regional Future and Junior High Performance tournaments.
As Dartmouth’s starting goalkeeper during all four seasons with the program, Broady received All-Ivy League acclaim, MVP honors and named a team captain. In addition to setting five program records that still stand today, she is responsible for top five all-time goalkeeping figures in another eight categories.
In 2001, she graduated with degrees in brain & psychological sciences and biology.
Broady and her husband, former Louisville baseball student-athlete Jimmy, have two daughters.
